Study on laser boronizing of the 60 steel surface and their mechanism

  • In this paper, the experimental procedure are presented for boronizing in the 60 steel surface using 2kW transverse-flow CO2 laser. The surfaces of these samples have been coated with B4C powder.Microstructural and energy spectrum analysis of the laser boronizing surfaces indicate that laser boronizing in the 60 steel surface is possiable so that it has the desired high quality surface properties.A preliminary discussion of the strengthening mechanism of the laser boronizing layer has been presented.
