  • Self-focusing of a high pawer laser beam in the atmosphere and its relations with air-breakdown, Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) and thermal blooming are reviewed. The effects on the propagation through the atmosphere and the requests on designing future large practical laser systems are analysed and discussed preliminarily.
