Abstract: Two tunable Cr4+-doped lasers──Cr4+:forsterite laser and Cr4+:YAG laser──are mainly introduced,emphasizing their spectroscop and laser performances,and several other Cr4+-doped new laser materials under development are appraised and prospected simply.
